I always enjoy listening to 9/11 conspiracy theorists and, for that matter, conspiracists in general. But tonight, listening to such a person, I found myself sensing a desperation in his voice, a confused, sad desperation. I’m reminded of the caveman I wrote of in “Earthquake”, only instead of coming home to find his family alive, he comes home to find his family dead; a family who he loved so much and never understand why, has now died and he doesn’t understand why. Why did the ground shake and kill them?, he asks, but recieves no answer. So he comes to believe that a power, or a powerful man (god), must have shook the ground and must have done so for some reason. God only exists so we can believe in ‘God’s Plan’, which really means that we can believe in “A plan”.

So too with the illuminati, the Masons, the CIA, the neo-cons, etc. We stare at the destruction of those towers or of the buses, planes, and other buildings blown up and need to think that it wasn’t just some individuals who killed for killing sake, but the well calculated “plan” of some bizzarely efficient and competent government. The “9/11 Truth”ers need the government to have done it, it’s the only thing that makes sense. In a time of confusion, the hint of hidden calculated wrong doing is the greatest ‘security’ that government provides.
